Free audio volume changer
Make a quiet recording louder or lower its volume. Preview the change before downloading a new MP3 or WAV.
Choose audio or try the built-in demo.
How to change audio volume
- Open a standard MP3 or WAV file.
- Choose a percentage: 50% halves sample amplitudes, 100% requests the original level and 200% doubles them when peak headroom allows.
- Preview, choose MP3 or WAV, then prepare and download the result.
Changing the volume clears the previous download. The original file stays unchanged. Use 0% only if you want a silent recording.
What clipping protection does
The tool measures the decoded sample peak and caps the applied gain to keep those peaks below 99%. The applied percentage is shown in the editor; it may be lower than the percentage you request.
This is a simple whole-recording gain adjustment, not a loudness normalizer, compressor or noise remover. It also raises background noise. It cannot repair distortion already in the source. MP3 encoding and playback can still change peaks; use WAV to avoid another lossy encoding step.
